The turn of the century brought about the opening of an outreach office in Overland Park, Ks and the end to the $9 million renovation of Russ Hall. It also marked 100 years since the University began classes. This anniversary was celebrated with an event known as the PittNic on September 8th, 2003 for the campus and the Pittsburg community.
It was during this decade that Chandler Hall was removed from campus in 2002 due to extensive structural damage and it was replaced by the Family and Consumer Sciences Building in April 2004. Also, the Veterans Memorial Amphitheater was dedicated in that same year. In 2008, the Student Recreation Center/National Guard Armory was completed on the site next to the Amphitheater.
As the decade came to an end, so did Bryant’s presidency. On July 1st, 2009, Dr. Steve Scott became the 9th president of Pittsburg State University.
