Men's Football

While intermural games of football were played as early as 1904 at the Normal School, the first organized team formed in October 1908. The Pittsburg State University Football program has won 4 national championships – 1957, 1961, 1991, and 2011. The current coaching staff for the Pittsburg State University Football Team includes Brian Wright as Head Coach, Dave Wiemers as Assistant Head Coach and Nate Dreiling, Matt Karleskint, Josh Lattimer, Korey Lindsey, John Pierce, Carl Roth, Steve Wells, Larry Garman, Luke Miller, Terry Szucs, Jessy Wall, and Travis Young as Assistant Coaches.
