Photography & Videography
This emphases is tailored for students passionate about television, radio, or film. The program places a strong emphases on honing skills in Multi-Media Production and Editing, Digital Advertising, and 3D Graphics. Upon graduation, students will have cultivated a versatile skill set to use in professional fields like radio, television, film, corporate video, public broadcasting, and beyond.
WHAT OUR PROGRAM LOOKS LIKE
Intermediate Photo / Video Techniques
This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to photography and videography. Basic principles of composition, lighting, equipment, and capture techniques necessary to produce high-quality photographic and video content will be covered
3D Graphics Software
Learn the fundamentals of 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering. Explore the principles of animation and visual storytelling in three-dimensional virtual environments
Audio / Video Software
Learn audio and visual composition techniques and procedures that utilizes audio and video software
Product Photography
Learn technical and conceptual aspects of capturing still images of products, buildings, and structures both indoor and outdoor. Emphases will be placed on the application of appropriate capturing techniques, equipment use and lighting for field/on-location conditions and studio settings
Portrait Photography
Learn theory and techniques used to capture images of people in the studio and on location. Concentration is placed upon lighting techniques, equipment usage, digital image manipulation and the study of psychology related to portraiture
Audio / Video Production Design
Learn Advanced techniques of audio and video production, including the use of equipment, software, and other tools to create and edit audio and visual content. Development in audio/video production planning, storytelling, scripting, and project management
Digital Media Advertising
This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to create high-quality photography and videography for use in advertising and marketing campaigns. Students will also explore the role of visual media in advertising and marketing and learn how to develop effective visual content to meet specific communication goals

“I’m very grateful for my time in the PSU Graphics program. Throughout college, I worked as a videographer for a local TV show. After graduating I took a job offer as a Video Editor for F3 Entertainment (Now known as F3 Media) which had offices in Carthage Missouri and Nashville Tennessee. I worked on National Television shows and filmed with professional athletes and musicians. In my tenure with the company, I used many skills I learned at PSU from video projects to high-end photography shoots with nationally known brands. I have truly worked with every Adobe software and that’s no joke. With that being said I have spent most of my time working with Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop which I learned the ins and outs of in the classrooms at PSU.
As I look back on the last 10 years, I’m very thankful for everything I learned at PSU. I truly wouldn’t be in the position I am today if it wasn’t for all the skills, I learned during my time there. The professors were always top-notch and willing to help out if questions or problems arose.
For anyone pursuing a commercial graphics degree just know there is a position somewhere for the emphases you want to go after. In today’s world, the digital space is bigger than I thought it would be 10 years ago. Chase after your dreams and do what you love. I live by the rule if you do something you love you’ll never work a day in your life.“
